Underwater Theology

Thats right Im about to go upon one of my belief rants But as always Ill do my best not to scathe any major religions and or God, Gods or beautiful Goddesses Ill leave those kinds of discussions to better equipped persons, you know ones with souls as oppose to me. Todays babble will focus (can babble truly focus on anything?) upon theories.

Higher Education is a dangerous thing. Its been a long-standing belief of mine that college is not for everyone. And I am very wary of these new times where it seems as if college is a given for most people You graduate highschool and go to college like one grabs a towel after a shower. Whist I was soaking in the pleasure that is college I began to have the strong feeling that a number of my peers did not belong there although precisely why I was not able to figure out at the time. It wasnt about those who were just there for goodtimes who might along the way learn something I can respect that no, it was more those who seemed TOO there. Let me try and splain

During Elementary / Middle / High School most of what you learned were facts. Hard, concrete, immutable lessons, 2 plus 2 equals 4, A comes before B, having a bleach blonde fro will get you nothing cept ridicule, a hydrogen molecule has one proton etc Facts are easy things. You learn them, You regurgitate them, and youre right. Done deal. Then ya get to college Now youre primarily dealing with Theories. And Theories are much more dangerous creatures. These are not static, passive hooks you can hang you coat on. These are shifting, sliding ghosts. They are there. They do things / you see them. But also, its quite possible they dont infact, exist. And that my friends, is the trickiest part to grasp.

Theories are wonderful things, not only do they explain the Whys that have been haunting you for your entire lives, the explain the Whys you haven even learned yet. You go through college learning all these theories and all of a sudden the world seem so much clearer.. By the time your diploma is framed and upon your wall, you have a shelf of answers for all queries that may bother ya Just a add a significant other and a career and youre lifes complete You now, when seeing somebody help another primp for a date, know thats a natural extension of social grooming found in our primate ancestors and indeed necessary to enlarge the gene pool of our tribe. In the same vain, that $60K sports car/boat is merely a mate selection tool used to compensate for ones. receding hair line / bad taste in clothing ;) Or that your entire life is being scripted by some random monkey with a typewriter (this theory is very far-reaching)

Thats the hardest thing about leaning theories is applying them correctly to ones life. You learn them, You regurgitate them, and youre right? --- WRONG. There in lies the key to learning theories one musty always try to remember that in the end they are just theories. And are subject to change without prior notice. No matter how wonderful they might have seemed, they dont really provide answers, they provide possibilities. To me that was what separated a good student / professor form a bad one. The good ones acknowledge that in the end, what they were teaching / learning might very well be wrong.

The danger though lies in those who confuse theories and facts to the extreme. Think nazi fuckheads, Militant _______, & drunk joshs babbling rants.

Speaking of babbling rants I think, perhaps this one shall come to a close hmmmmm now.
